Radiotherapy Department

About Department

The Department of Radiotherapy at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal, was established in 1994 following the bifurcation of Radiology into Radiotherapy and Radiodiagnosis.

The department is located in the Kamla Nehru Hospital building within the premises of Hamidia Hospital, Bhopal.

Since 1995, the department has been running an MD program in Radiotherapy (Radiation Oncology). To date, more than 59 students have passed the course and are now working in various cancer

centers across India and abroad.

The department treats all types of cancers. The following facilities are available for cancer patients:

* Chemotherapy

* External Beam Radiotherapy (currently under upgradation)

* Brachytherapy (currently under upgradation)

* Immunotherapy and Targeted Therapy

The department has 30 inpatient beds in the ward, plus 10 day-care beds in the Kamla Nehru Hospital building.

The department is well-supported by other departments such as Pathology, Radiodiagnosis, Surgery, Medicine, Gynaecology, and ENT. Special clinics are conducted for cancer patient nutrition, cancer screening, and geriatric oncology. The

Department also collaborates with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on the Hospital-Based Cancer Registry (HBCR) and the National Coordination Centre for the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (NCC-PvPI).
